Meet Me In The Hollow

Ok, so here was the initial sketch I did for the current illustration. (Yeah my sketches are pretty gosh darn awful but at least I know what I'm doing!) I did this right after I'd finished making the puppet's head; instead of starting with a storyline/subject I started with the puppet and worked backwards to give her a story. Seeing as I'm just experimenting with the making, it is easier to work from the puppet as I'm never certain how they will turn out and what sort of look they will have. When I'd finished the head, this one had a sort of elf-ish woodland feel to it. 

I've started experimenting with this now, and it's taken me a while to get the lighting and stuff - it's probably not as good as it could be because I'm not perfect!! Also I got a little angry with it towards the end so I'm leaving it like this for now!

New Puppet!

My latest puppet! Just playing about with poses..the body is more basic on this one, but hopefully will look better edited into illustration. Attempted to make hands but the bastard fingers fell off! So will also have to edit those. Next; creating an illustration from a rough sketch I did while I was making the puppet!

Beginnings of my Second Puppet of the Summer!

Here's the start of my second puppet! She's adorable!? I decided to experiment with hair...her hair is made out of wool, which was quite difficult actually to glue down..but it looks okayyy.

I took the last photo without a flash and love how her hair has come out in a reddish colour! Will definately need to experiment more with photographing if/when I use her for an illustration!

New Puppet!

Here's the puppet I've been working on the past couple of days. He's a bit mongy looking bless him, but it's the first puppet I've made that has quite a bit of detail so I'm really quite proud! 

Going to start playing about with him a bit more, might add some more accessories and practice photographing him and turn him into an illustration for something or other at some point. Right now I'm just experimenting with the actual method of making characters; kind of a trial and error type thing to see what materials work and how to use them to the best of their ability..and having fun! :)

Silent Screams - Personal Illustration/Experimenting

Ok..not posted on here in a while. Been listening to a lot of creepy things, reading a lot of creepy things, thinking a lot of creepy things. So here's the result of being inspired by generally creepy things.

I made the model out of Das clay and just wanted to experiment more with photographing my puppets and using them as part of a digital collage. This image didn't take me all that long but I quite like the result...

Definately need to continue with creepy things...it's fun!
